Travel and Relax in the Muskoka Resorts
Some of the Muskoka resorts have been around for almost one hundred years. The origins of these oldest resorts precede the current cottage country craze of the last 20 years or so where today, most people find some kind of pride in the self-denial of some of the creature comforts of home. Especially if you stay in a more rustic cottage. But did you know that the history of cottage country is steeped in wealth, privilege and leisure?
It was these Canadian and British industrialists who in the 1860′s started to make the wilderness fashionable. The Muskoka region was already an industrial haven back then with the logging industry, and supporting railways and steamship lines. So dozens and dozens of luxury hotels sprung up as did the notion of building country "cottages".
It’s in this spirit and history that some of the existing Muskoka resorts of today were built and are still operating. So if you are planning on traveling to Muskoka consider staying in one of the many resorts where you can truly be pampered.
Imagine having a massage, aromatherapy, facial or other sensual treatments in a resort setting as peaceful and tranquil as Muskoka. If this kind of a setting does not rejuvenate your heart and soul, nothing will. Or some are geared for golfers and even spouse who don’t golf situated beside beautiful golf courses. Spectacular!
