Axe Lake Conservation Wetland Reserve
Axe Lake Conservation Wetland is a conservation reserve to the northwest of Lake Vernon and Huntsville and comprises over 793 hectares of ecologically sensitive wetlands that are home to wetland conifer forests and rare aquatic life. It is also known for its Atlantic coastal plain plant life making it popular with hikers and nature enthusiasts. Hunters and snowmobilers are also frequent visitors the surrounding area in the fall and winter months and cross country skiers take to the trails within the reserve.
