Kahshe Lake Barrens Conservation Reserve

Kahshe Lake Barrens Conservation Reserve covers over 3,200 hectares of land along the south shores of Kahshe Lake. The reserve protects a delicate ecological area that is home to some very rare national and provincial plant species. The area includes stands of Pine and Oak but also wetlands and barren rocky areas – as the name suggests. It’s another great place to experience and access the back country of Muskoka.

During the winter, access is a bit easier as the snow allows for snowmobile traffic in some of the trails. Get to Kahshe Lake Barrens by taking Hwy 11 north from Orillia and then take Kahshe Lake Road east. From the end of the road take a canoe on Kahshe Lake east.

Our Muskoka Park Maps list is growing, and our goal is to strive to give the most comprehensive list available. If there is a particular Muskoka Park we missed or you think deserves mention, please Contact Us. We'd love to hear from you.
