Lower Moon River and Moon River Conservation Reserves

The Lower Moon River Conservation reserve is a large protected area of over 3170 hectares. It starts along the Moon River at Hwy 400 and stretches along both shorelines of the river until about Moon Falls where the reserver widens and stretches north to Kapikog Lake and west to Georgian Bay.

It is an exceptional place to canoe and paddle with several nice portages and rustic camp sites along the way. There is also good fishing along this route and interesting topography including rocky cliffs and chutes. A great way to experience the heart of Muskoka.

You can start your canoe adventure right at the juncture of Hwy 400 and Moon River or take Twelve Mile Bay Road (Route 12) to Arnold’s Bay where there is a boat launch.

Our Muskoka Park Maps list is growing, and our goal is to strive to give the most comprehensive list available. If there is a particular Muskoka Park we missed or you think deserves mention, please Contact Us. We'd love to hear from you.
