Gibson River Provincial Nature Reserve

The Gibson River Provincial Nature reserve is set alongside the head waters of the Gibson River on the west side of Hwy 400 near the southern end of Gibson Lake. The reserve protects some very rare vegetation and fauna in the Muskoka region. It covers only 168 hectares but is heavily forested and secluded so it makes for a nice relaxing break if you have been travelling for several hours.

From Hwy 400 take route 33 east to the end of the road to a parking lot. The trail begins at the parking lot and goes deep into the reserve. In fact the branch off and continue into neighboring Severn River Conservation Reserve. There are also some snowmobile trails accessible from the parking lot that access more Muskoka back country.

Our Muskoka Park Maps list is growing, and our goal is to strive to give the most comprehensive list available. If there is a particular Muskoka Park we missed or you think deserves mention, please Contact Us. We'd love to hear from you.

  • I have been searching for days now to find a trail map of the Gibson River Provincial Park Trail. All I have been able to find is a road map up to the park, but no trail map.
    Could you help?
A GPS track on Google Earth would do if no other map is available.
Wherever I go, I make those tracks myself. But I haven’t been there yet.
